The Orca mouthpiece is cast in silicon bronze, and painstakingly hand finished to perfection. Norbert Stachel personally applies each final facing with the same meticulous technique as his custom refacing work. Electroplating in 24 karat gold or rhodium is applied by Matt Marantz.
Our original large chamber design provides an incredibly fat tenor tone with unparalleled projection. We achieved a full-bodied tone that blows away typical paint-peeler designs that blast nothing but treble. Whisper quiet subtone and unrestrained dynamic range means it’s versatile from smoky jazz to contemporary R&B. Investment casting costs more to produce, but we aren’t constrained by machining limitations. We believe it is worth it to execute our ideal acoustic design as well as an object of beauty.
